Because ProfiTrace with ProfiCore Ultra provides master, busmonitor and oscilloscope in one, it is very easy to run a self test. Procedure as follows :-
1) Remove all PROFIBUS cables from the ProfiCore (including Tap connector), leaving only the USB lead
2) Start ProfiTrace (Init ProfiCore) - click OK when Unable to autodetect baud rate is reported
3) Set ProfiCaptain to Stop mode (Setup master or double click on black ProfiCore image)
4) Auto-detect the baudrate in ProfiTrace (Auto-detect baudrate)(not needed when Version 2.6.1+ ProfiTrace software used)
5) Check the Live List for master at address 1
6) Start a message recording and check the telegrams (Only token and FDL status expected)
7) Check the waveforms in Scopeware and the Bar graph (Expect higher amplitude than in normal operation)
When the Live List, Message recoding and Scopeware all show acceptable results, your ProfiCore Ultra hardware and ProfiTrace software are functioning correctly.

Note : If you connect a PROFIBUS cable to the ProfiCore Ultra for the above procedure, you can use the Scopeware display to measure the cable length.
